Mini Road Trip to Augusta

Rebecca A Weingold - Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival

Looking for something to do this weekend? Head over to Augusta for the Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival!

ARTS IN THE HEART OF AUGUSTA is a 2 1/2 day celebration of food, arts, diversity and culture. The festival has over 80,000 visitors annually and are preparing for our 37th year. They feature a juried Fine Arts and Fine Crafts Market, a Global Village with food from more than 20 countries, five stages stacked with live entertainment, and much more.

This year’s market features over 140 artists, from the local area and nationwide. There’s something for everyone – clay, clothing and accessories, digital art, fiber, folk art, furniture, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, and wood.

The performers this year will entertain on five stages: Community Stage, Family Stage, Global Stage, Jazz Stage, and Troubador Stage. This year’s festival includes more than 150 performing artists. Check out the full schedule here.

The Global Village is one of the BEST parts of the Award Winning Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival. Here you can sample authentic ethnic food from over 20 countries which is all cooked by local ethnic associations. 24 countries/cultures will be represented on the Augusta Common: ACHA (Latin America), African American, Cambodia, China, Cyprus, Italy, Germany, Greece, Guam, India, Ireland, Jamaica, Korea, Laos, Lebanon, Nigeria, Philippines, Samoa, South Sudan, Sudan, Thailand, Trinidad, Turkey, and Vietnam.

This award winning festival is produced each year by the Greater Augusta Arts Council. It’s a quick two-hour drive from Atlanta to Augusta (maybe shorter, depending on what part of town you’re in), so pick out a playlist, pack some snacks, and hit the road!
